CHRIST’S PASSION DURING EASTER WEEK

Ever since 1963, the Passion on Easter Saturday has been acted out through the streets of Chinchón, encouraged by the parish priest, Luis Lezama.

This grand living Via Crucis performed by more than 250 citizens of Chinchón who, whilst going through the streets, transform the place into a Jerusalem for one day

This religious and artistic act has been declared a "A Festival of National Tourist Interest " by the Ministry for Commerce and Tourism.

FESTIVAL OF THE APOSTLE SAINT JAMES

July 25 is the day on which the first bull run is organized thus inaugurating the bullfighting season in Chinchón with a minor bullfight.

FESTIVALS IN HONOR OF PATRON SAINTS

In the middle of August and in honor of the Virgin of Grace and Saint Roque, there are festivals, religious acts, open-air celebrations, sports competitions, exhibitions, bull runs and, of course, bullfights.

For some years now, the International Competition for Bullfighting Schools has been organized where young rising stars in the bullfighting world are given a chance to demonstrate their skills.

Held on the third weekend of September. Bull run, bullfight, open-air festival and religious acts.

The feast of Saint Anton is also celebrated in Chinchón in the Hermitage of the same and when animals are taken there to be blessed.

The traditional carnivals held prior to Lent are fairly spectacular. Other religious feasts are : the Festivity of the Brotherhood of Saint Joseph, the celebration of the Eucharist one weekend in June and the veneration of the Virgin of Compassion in September.
